Mixed Reviews for Apple iPad

Sunday, 31 Jan 2010

The talk of world’s media savvy buffs is the Apple iPad. With all the hype surrounding its arrival, many were anxious to see if it lived up to their expectations, and they seem to still be waiting.

Called by some a larger version of the iPhone, many critics say there is nothing special about the tablet that Steve Jobs is quoted as calling the most important thing he has ever done. However, Larry Magid with Mercury News, who was at the unveiling, says the tablet is not a new concept and called it “underwhelming.”

Other reviews say the iPad is the next wave of the future; it is the rest of the world that has fallen behind. The New York Times said movie studios and other companies were unprepared for the unique opportunity the new gadget presents. However, the world of books is taking full advantage of it. With the new application iBooks, Apple is making a run for top of the electronic book market against Amazon.

With uncertainty still surrounding the tablet, many have said they will wait for the 2.0 version, which they hope will be Flash compatible. While many were seemingly caught off guard by the product, the New York Times proclaimed the “iPad is clearly a next-generation media consumption product.” apple-ipad-reviews-mixed
