AT&T CEO Believes People Will Pick Wi-Fi Over 3G Network for their iPad

Thursday, 04 Mar 2010

Late January, Apple announced that it was going to be releasing a touchscreen tablet computer known as the iPad. It was also announced that they would be working with AT&T in offering a pre-paid 3G network service for the iPad. For $15 a month customers would get 250 MB of data or they could pay $30 a month for unlimited data.

AT&T CEO, Randall Stephenson, has gone on record saying he believes the iPad will be used more as a wi-fi driven device and not many people will use the pre-paid 3G network. Only speculation has gone into why Stephenson thinks this and he hasn’t come out giving any reasons as to why he feels this way.

The iPad will be released in two versions. In late March the Wi-Fi iPad will be out and the 3G version will follow in April and will cost more. As many people use their devices in places with Wi-Fi such as their living room or coffee shops, it’s believed that the Wi-Fi version will be more popular. The 3G iPad would be a good buy for those that travel a lot and need to ensure they have a connection no matter where they are. att-wi-fi-g-network-ipad
