Woman Sues After Being Left With Four Breasts

A Staten Island woman has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against a plastic surgeon after he botched her breast augmentation procedure. Dr. Keith Berman has been named in the five million dollar lawsuit that includes monetary amounts for humiliation, pain, disability, embarrassment, pain, and loss of self-esteem.

Maria Alaimo underwent the first surgery in 2003. She paid Dr. Berman seven thousand dollars in cash for an augmentation that was to give her a pair of breasts that would fill a 36c bra size. The original procedure ended up being disastrous and left Alaimo with a “double bubble” effect or what resembles four breasts on her chest. She allowed Dr. Berman to try and correct the first botched procedure with a second surgery. The results included more scarring and the bubbles were still present.

When Dr. Berman offered to do a third surgery, Alaimo declined. She went to a different surgeon but has been left with severe scarring and did not help the original problem at all. Her lawyer indicates her embarrassment led her to hide her body from her husband and ultimately caused their divorce in 2004.

Dr. Berman’s only defense, he told Alaimo that there were risks involved, but she chose to have the surgery anyways.
