Nujabes Killed in Tragic Car Accident
A popular Japanese hip-hop artist was killed in a fatal car accident on February 26th. His stage name was Nujabes but his real name was Jun Seba. The 36 year old’s record label has confirmed the news by posting a statement on the website.
His death and funeral were kept secret from most of the world for unknown reasons. Many speculate it has to do with his very private nature and his lack of being in the limelight while he was alive. He was killed while driving on the Metropolitan Expressway in Tokyo. He was taken to a hospital but attempts to save him were unsuccessful.
The entertainer started his own record company, Hydeout Productions. He released several recordings by those in the hip-hop underground as well as collaborations with artists from around the world. The company will release some of the deceased star’s tracks that he had been working on before his untimely death.
Nujabes also owned two record stores in Tokyo, Guinness Records and T Records. His death came as a shock to his American based friend and collaborator Shing02, who had been trying to reach him the past several weeks. His death is being mourned by many from all around the world.

No one has ever come close to Nujabes’ sound or style.
Not to say he was the absolute best musician/producer ever — but, definitely in a league of his own.
