According to reports, as many as 400,000 email addresses and passwords of Yahoo Voices’ users have been exposed, Yahoo confirmed today.

In a statement Yahoo said: “We confirm that an older file from Yahoo Contributor Network… containing approximately 450,000 Yahoo and other company users’ names and passwords was compromised yesterday.

“Of these, less than 5% of the Yahoo accounts had valid passwords. We are taking immediate action by fixing the vulnerability that led to the disclosure of this data, changing the passwords of the affected Yahoo users and notifying the companies whose users accounts may have been compromised.”

How To Change Your Password

From time to time one may want to change there internet passwords, doing so increases safety and refreshes memory of current passwords. Leaving a password stagnant for to long may decrease security. Here is how to change your yahoo password to increase security and keep your memory fresh.

Log into your yahoo account to start the process. This will bring you to your home page where you will be able to access all of your yahoo features. If you are not brought to your homepage click the home icon in the top left corner,How To Change Your Yahoo Password

1) In the upper left corner of your yahoo home find your name and click the downwards point arrow placed next to it. After clicking continue downwards and click on account.

2) Clicking account will bring you to a log in page. Type in your current password to verify that you are the proper owner of the account.

3) After entering your password you will be bought to a new page. On the new page scroll down to sign in and security. Under this find the link saying change your password and click to proceed.

4) On the change password page enter your current password and new password in the fields marked. Make sure to use complex passwords for your security and safety. After completing this click the save button.

-Use a complex password with numbers and letters for a strong password
-Use a password that is easy to remember, or write it down.
-Log into your account with your updated password, your old password will not work anymore
