Whose Got Game: Apple’s iPhone leads among mobile phone gaming

Thursday, 05 Feb 2009

New research has linked the development of some various bone proteins and the development of what is referred to as good fat.

When it comes to games on the go, few phones seem to do it better than the iPhone. In fact, according to a new study, Apple’s popular phone is the top phone used in all game downloads for mobile phones.

More than that, there actually four models of the iPhone in the top ten, including the top three positions. In all, this means that the iPhone accounts for fourteen percent of all downloads. Considering the plethora of options on the market, that number is quite impressive.

The study, put out by ComScore, also narrowed the results to smartphones, where the iPhone’s dominance was even more pronounced, with nearly a third of all game downloads being on some version of the iPhone.

In total, ComScore determined that the number of games being downloaded is increasing, and, in November, 3.8 percent of mobile phone subscribers downloaded a game, while 8.9 percent actually played a game on their device. If those numbers sound small, consider them by the estimated people totals: that’s 8.5 million people downloading games and a whopping 20.5 million playing them.

While the iPhone dominated among mobile gamers, two versions of the Blackberry Curve were also very popular, along with the Samsung Instinct and the LG Voyager. Overall, the trend seems to be in smartphones, which are gaining in popularity among users and in the number of game downloads.
