Tesla Shows Off Family-Friendly Electric Car

Tesla Motors introduced an all-electric, 0-emission sedan

Jacksonville – On Thursday, Tesla Motors introduced an all-electric, 0-emission sedan. The Model S boasts a sleek design and look of luxury at an attractive price tag of $56,000. The electric vehicle was designed and manufactured at the Space X rocket factory located in Hawthorne, California. The heart behind the vehicle, the power train, was manufactured in San Carlos, California. Tesla has its center of operations based in San Carlos.

The president and CEO, Elon Musk, of Tesla is now making a proposal to consumers and anticipating that the US government will back the vehicle as economical and a value when selling this new all Electric automobile. The Model S qualifies owners for a $7500 federal tax energy credit.

Tesla has backing from Google co-founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. The two are major investors in the vehicle. The automobile has been tested and proven to reach a top speed of 130 miles per hour. The Model S can also accelerate from zero to 60 MPH in just a little under six seconds.

In addition to the traditional automobile system instruments, the Model S will provide drivers with a 17-inch touch screen monitor. The monitor allows for 3G connectivity. Drivers can easily maneuver through Google maps and any other online data with ease.

Parents and other interested adults may monitor the driver of the vehicle by way of access through an iPhone or laptop. Internet radio transmission is also a benefit available in the Model S.

Tesla is encouraged by early interest in this vehicle. Along with major impact on the reduction in energy usage, the vehicle was attractive to investors for its environmental enrichment features.

Tesla hopes the Model S will move into mass production sometimes in the latter part of 2011 with deliveries beginning in 2012. For now, interested consumers may visit their website at www.tesla.com to place their name on a long waiting list.

A newsletter sent to customers on Friday provided details from the product architect offering the benefits to consumers available in an electric car vs. the long-established gasoline driven automobiles. Musk indicated the Model S would provide the consumer with a lower cost when using electricity vs. the needs on future anticipated cost of gasoline, which will soon again reach $4 per gallon. In addition, the Model S has fewer moving parts than the gasoline driven vehicles. This will allow owners to travel distances of up to 230 miles at $5.

Musk states, “Tesla believes they are close to receiving approximately $350 million in governmental loans from the US Department of Energy.” The loans will be used to a manufacturing plant in California.
