Will Jobs Show Up To WWDC?
Who will be right? There is so much speculation and “buzz” about what is going to happen today at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco.
Will there be an immediate new model or models of the iPhone, or will it/they wait until mid-July? With Apple’s online store showing only a Post-it note today announcing “We are busy updating”, what does that mean?
There are so many rumors that the Apple folks must be truly delighted to know that many people are anxiously awaiting the outcome of today’s WWDC. Apple will want to keep as much of its iPhone market as possible and would be expected to make a major announcement to combat Palm Pre’s launch on Saturday, just two days ago, which quickly sold out at many locations across the country.
So what will be new from Apple? Will it be a $99 or $149 entry-level model with only 4 or 8 gigabytes of memory and without signficant music and video storage that just possibly might double iPhone sales? Or will it be an even larger model than the latest iPhone 3G which would increase the gigabytes to 16 and perhaps 32 and have a faster processor, a magnetometer, and a better camera that can record and edit video? Will it have a totally new name or perhaps just “iPhone 2009″? And what about the next OS X operating system named “Snow Leopard”?
A well-pondered question is whether well-loved billionaire co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs (primarily responsibie for the iPhone, iPod, iTunes, etc.) be able to return from his medical leave to do the announcing? It could happen even though Apple’s Vice President of Marketing Philip Schiller is set to be the keynote speaker. It is said that Apple’s stock would have an immediate large increase if both new models and Steve Jobs are featured at the WWDC.
