Vulnerable Adobe Flash shipped with Snow Leopard

Snow Leopard is expected to enhance the Mac OS X systems from Apple. Yet there is an issue with vulnerable Adobe Flash shipped with Snow Leopard.

The version of Adobe Flash that is installed by Snow Leopard is not the latest. Instead of the current version 10.0.32.18 of Adobe Flash, the version installed is 10.0.23.1. This is a problem induced possibly by maleware hackers. It is fairly well known that hackers attempt to exploit weaknesses in Adobe code. This is unsettling since most Mac and PC users also have Adobe software, namely Adobe Flash.

A Senior Consultant, Graham Cluley reports that the change in the version of Adobe Flash is made without any indication so it is wise to check the version number of Adobe Flash. If it is not version 10.0.32.18 then it is possible that your version was downgraded.

In order to reduce the impact of this problem Microsoft has security software updates that can be downloaded. Adobe also has updates that are accessible online to get the latest download of Adobe Flash.

Apple also has moved to intervene against the vulnerable Adobe Flash shipped with Snow Leopard by adding maleware software to the Mac X Operating System for a limited time.
