Lenovo launches Thinkpad Edge
Lenovo has revealed their latest version of the ThinkPad Edge portable computer just days before the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. These sleek computers are marketed to those in the small business world who need something a little bigger than the size of their hand but not as cumbersome as a full size laptop.
The new ThinkPads range between 13 to 15 inches and include a standard multitouch touchpad and wireless broadband capabilities. The redesigned touchpad is more user friendly and gets rid of extra keys that are rarely or never used by the average consumer. TheEdge has an AMD dual core processor, which is a first to the ThinkPad series. The new models also come in a variety of bold colors to make them more unique and appeal to a wider variety of consumers.
The battery life on these portable netbooks is advertised at extensive eight hours. The newest versions will start around $450 per unit for the X100 and the fancier units will start close to 1000 dollars. Consumers can choose to have Windows XP or Windows 7 as their operating system. An upgrade to a 4GB memory will also be available as well as Bluetooth and 3G technology.
