MagicJack Providing Cell Phone Service With Their New Femtocell

Sunday, 17 Jan 2010

The hot word in technology right now is femtocell, and MagicJack is going to be providing one very soon to the consumer population.

If you haven’t heard of this new device, a femtocell is basically a router. This router allows a person’s cell phone to connect to it, providing cell phone service, unlike a Ethernet of Wi-Fi connection. Ultimately this let’s the consumer place cell phone calls that don’t access a cell phone network. This way the user is not using their cell minutes. Premiered by YMax,

MagicJack’s inventor, the new device will be coming out in the second quarter. Also, this femtocell, which has not been given a name yet, will hit the consumer market at a very reasonable price of about $40.

With the femtocell, customers will not only be able to connect to their own MagicJack device, but also to MagicJack femtocells at businesses or their friend’s homes. Once the customer comes within eight feet or less, and the MagicJack registers the connection, a conversation can be held within a range of a 3000 square foot perimeter. MagicJack customers will be able to use the femtocell with their current MagicJack service, which runs $19.95 for a year.magicjack-cell-phone-service-femtocell
