Firefox 3.6 Hot Out of the Gate
Firefox has been a household name for a few years now. Their latest release, Firefox 3.6, continues the tradition held by its predecessors of providing a fast, easy to use and secure web browser for the amazing low price of FREE. The popularity of the browser is illustrated by the nearly 4 million copies downloaded for use within the first 24 hours of release.
The latest version offers a suite of features. Following the lead of Google’s Chrome, the software is designed to use less memory than older versions, allowing for a faster start up. The latest upgrade is also high on the list for web developers, incorporating the HTML 5 audio and video support, which will allow enhanced web pages to be displayed properly.
Users will be excited about Firefox 3.6′s ability to open customization to a new level. An expected set of customization is the “Persona” set, which is like a background for your browser. One installable set that is interesting is the Traveler Pack. It features an information bar that tells you were the web server for the site you are viewing is located. A nifty idea for identifying a link that redirects you to Nigerian or Russian server.
Look to Firefox 3.6 to set a new standard for Google and Microsoft to keep pace with. After seeing this release, expect the other browser developers to respond in kind.
