Think before you prank on April Fools Day
The calendar reads April 1 and your mind begins to reel with excitement. What jokes and pranks can you pull today? But before you get to ahead of yourself, we advise you to proceed with caution.
April Fools Day dates back to at least the 1500′s in Europe. Although there are many theories as to how the day developed to be known as a prank day, there is no evidence exactly how it began. So the custom of making April Fools remains mysterious to us.
Back in the 1500′s, Europeans would stick paper fish to other peoples backs to make them April Fools. And they would send their servant back and forth on absurd errands. Today people play all sorts of pranks. Kids put kick me signs on other childrens back. Wives tell husbands or family that their pregnant. There are even extremes where employers joke around and tell employees their fired.
Whatever you do for April Fools, make sure it’s appropriate. In this day and age people are more uptight and may not think your joke or prank is funny. No one wants to be made a fool of. Refrain from playing pranks at school or work and only do it to people you are close to who you know won’t be upset. But most importantly, don’t embarass anyone.
