Facebook Status Moves Student to Expelled Status
MERRITT ISLAND, FLORIDA – A senior high school student at Edgewood High School in Merritt Island has been expelled from school after posting a facebook status update that has said that he would kill his English teacher.
The threat was posted to the boy’s Facebook status section. Facebook accounts do have privacy settings to prevent unwelcome users from seeing photos and other personal information including status updates. It is unclear whether these privacy settings were enabled. The student has been reported as being a prankster and the class clown, but English teacher Kathy Bowen is not laughing.
Officials with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Department have taken the threat seriously and are prepared to move forward if teacher Kathy Bowen desires to press charges.
The contents of the status message have not been made public, although there is now a Facebook account asking for people to become a fan in order to view a screen shot of the status message. The picture linked from the site has been censored, but features remarks made by a user Katrina that tells the student not to report to school.
The school website posts a faculty listing, however, there is no listing for a Katrina. 
Ummm, maybe “Katrina” is the same person as “Kathy”? Ever thought of that?

The boy’s facebook account could of been hacked. People these days have no clue what people can do on a computer. Anyways people post threats all the time and none are taking seriously, even if the person in the threat reads it. The English teacher needs to chill and shut her face because the screen showed pixels in the shape of letters which made a threat.

This is fucking ridiculous I’m a senior in high school and sometimes I would like to smack my teachers. Doesn’t mean I’m actually going to do it. He was just venting. And teachers shouldn’t even have been on his damn facebook. That teacher is a pedo. He shouldn’t have been expelled for something that happened outside of school and that wasn’t on school grounds.
