Eating healthy foods provide “limited protection” against cancer

Friday, 09 Apr 2010

In a surprise revelation scientist Sir Tim Hunt has said that eating healthy foods can only provide “limited protection” against cancer.

The Nobel award winning scientist made the proclamation as part of a lecture entitled ‘The Truth About Cancer’ during the Association for International Cancer Research conference. Sir Hunt is part of Cancer Research UK and agrees with the recent scientific research showing that eating a healthier diet offers only “limited protection” against the potentially deadly disease.

Cancer is caused by mutations with the cellular structure of genetic materials. An estimated 100 to 200 people in the United States are diagnosed with some form of cancer each hour.

Sir Hunt has stated that the air and water are the “most terrible” environmentally linked cancer causing agents.

“The two most terrible poisons in the environment causing cancer are air and water,” he said. “It is the air itself, not any pollutants in it, and water which are constantly attacking our DNA.”

The scientist has also stated that there are “very basic” things about cancer that are still not understood.

According to the scientific research conducted, the consumption of fruits and vegetables does offer various health benefits but doesn’t reduce cancer risk. fruits-vegetables-do-not-reduce-cancer-limited-protection
