No Restrictions Apply – AT&T’s iPad Data Plan Really is Unlimited
When Steve Jobs first made the announcement that AT&T was to offer an unlimited data plan for the iPad many consumers were worried. It seems that when any cellular network announces an unlimited data plan these days it means unlimited with restrictions. Many of us would call this limited but that does not seem to be part of any companies vocabulary and the result is an “unlimited” data plan which has a 5 GB max data transfer per month.
Many iPad users opted to buy the WiFi only version of the iPad with the very fear that AT&T would limit the unlimited data plan in a similar fashion however AT&T spokesman Mark Seigel has in fact confirmed that the unlimited iPad data plan will come with no restrictions on data transfer amounts.
Per AT&T spokesman Mark Seigel – “YouTube yourself silly all day and all night. Use Sling Player until your eyes go square.” Mark Siegel also mentioned that iPad users get access to AT&T’s hotspots for free. He then said that “the crazy outliers who stream data all the time won’t be penalized.” The iPad is a revolutionary device and it just ushered in a revolutionary change in data plans.

So the iPad users who pay month to month for their unlimited plan can go nuts and download as much as they want while the customers tied into 2 year contracts with their phone are treated like second class citizens. Oh yeah that sounds fair. I should mention that I am an at&t customer with an unlimited plan and I have on occasion gone over the 5GB limit but they have yet to charge me any extra so I am not mad at them, I just don’t like that they hold that anvil over my head
