New BlackBerry Bold 9650 will ship in May
For the past decade, the Blackberry phone series, which is sold and manufactured by Research In Motion (RIM), has been one of the best selling devices in the world. However, while the Blackberry franchise has been extremely popular for those in the professional world, the phone series has not been overly well received for those looking for a more entertaining phone.
This week, Research In Motion announced that their newest phone, The Blackberry Bold 9650 will ship to stores on May 23. The Blackberry Bold 9650 will be an updated version of the Blackberry Tour, which was popular with both those in the professional world and those looking for a more entertaining phone. The main advantage of the Blackberry Bold 9650 is that the phone will no longer rely on the tracking ball to maneuver through the phone. The tracking ball was frequently a source of complaint for those who used the Blackberry.
The newest version of the Blackberry franchise will come with WiFi capability, which will drastically increase a users ability to listen to music on Pandora or surf the internet. The WiFi connectivity was not available with the Blackberry Tour. The newest Blackberry phone will be available to customers for a price of around $300, but all customers are expected to receive a rebate of around $100.
It remains to be seen how the newest Blackberry will compete with other smart phones. The Apple iPhone, with its wide range of applications, has been the most successful smart phone so far.
