Birth Control: A miracle drug or a masquerade?
Yesterday, May 9, mother’s day was celebrated and alongside that news that the birth control pill turned fifty. This hormone altering drug that does not allow the ovary to produce an egg, has never been without its controversy, despite it’s use by so many. It has been known to cause blood clotting and other life threatening conditions.
The fact is, no matter how much wishing to the contrary, women who alter their body chemistry are asking for complications. The only true method of contraception is abstaining from sex during the fertile period that occurs approximately two weeks after the last period. This is difficult to do, but speaking rationally and with the knowledge of how things should be, how else can this all important fact of life be considered?
Before jumping on bandwagons going nowhere except to more confusion and more downgrading of life itself, the next fifty years will demand more education toward the true facts about the pill. As it is now, it is a masquerade of mammoth proportions. Think about it! Taking a pill that alters a woman’s body against what it was meant to be, a mother, simply for pleasure, is not rational.
Less is more where motherhood is concerned. It is sacred ground and should be tread on carefully. In the next fifty years expect to hear more from those that were denied the joy of life because of the pill. Mating of intelligent human beings must become less of a commodity and more of a soul searching vocation if the world is ever to recover from its insanity.
