Cell Phones Have Been Cleared in Brain Cancer Link

Monday, 17 May 2010

Good news for cell phone users! Apparently there is no real risk that talking on a cell phone will lead a person to develop brain cancer. A recent study was unable to prove a link between the two, much to the dismay of the scientists. The scientists are not giving up though. They strongly believe there is a link, and they are asking for more research to be done before they make a final ruling on the subject.

The study was done over a ten year period. This in one of the reasons the scientists are asking for a redo. When the study began in 2000, the cell phone craze was just beginning. Now billions of people use cell phones every day. Scientists feel the number of users plus the amount of time people spend on their cell phones is so much more today than it was ten years ago, the study could not possibly be accurate.

The researchers in the study asked 13,000 people how much time they spent on their phones. This type of data gathering is also being blamed for the inconclusive findings in the study. People from all around the world were asked to remember how much time they spent on the phone, instead of a fact-based data gathering system. Researchers recommend people use hands free devices as much as possible, just in case there is a link between the two.

The 24 million dollar study was funded by several cell phone companies. In an effort to prove that there may still be a link, European scientists have kicked off another study that will span over 30 years and track daily cell phone usage of all participants. top-5-cell-phones1
