Drink coffee and tea for your heart

Saturday, 19 Jun 2010

A 13 year study in the Netherlands found that drinking several cups of tea and/or coffee a day can reduce the risk of heart disease by a third.

This is good news for many people as coffee and tea have become two of the most popular beverages in the world. Now a part of the daily routine; that cup of joe before you head out the door can be thought of as a health benefit.

Many people do not take milk with their tea or coffee because there are uncertainties as to whether or not milk affects the polyphenols found in these beverages.

While coffee may have its benefits, coffee is also known to increase cholesterol which of course increases heart risk. At the same time, this new study shows that coffee can help fight off inflamitory diseases.

The type of tea a person drinks also will determine the level of health benefits. For example; a person who drinks three or four cups of Chai Tea is not likely to gain the same health benefits as a person who drinks three to four cups of Black Tea.

Of course moderation and healthy lifestyle are key when taking in this information. Obviously, having a cigarette with that morning coffee or a donut with the cup of tea will negate the healthy benefits of your beverage. A healthy diet and exercise will also contribute to a healthy and prolonged life.

So, rejoice coffee and tea drinkers and fill up another cup as you toast to your own health. drink-coffee-tea-for-your-heart
