National HIV testing day set

Saturday, 26 Jun 2010

One of the biggest problems across the world in terms of health is HIV. Health officials have been pushing for people of all backgrounds to get tested for HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases. HIV and other diseases of a sexual kind sometimes lay dormant in people and they are carrying the virus without even knowing. Therefore health officials across the globe have been promoting June 27 as National HIV Testing Day.

Studies show that people that know if they have sexually transmitted diseases are less likely to transmit the disease to a partner and are more open about their sexual past with their partner. Treatments and technology in recent years have helped slow the progression of many diseases and extend the lives of millions that have detected the virus early. It’s important for people that are sexually active to get tested regularly to ensure a better quality of life and peace of mind.

For some people, the uncertainty of taking an HIV test and waiting for results can be stressful. However, testing no longer requires an investment of days waiting, a rapid test can give confidential and anonymous results within 20 minutes.

June 27, 2010 will be a day remembered, as many states are offering free testing for anyone that wants to get their health in check. Anyone that is sexually active should look for free testing in their local community, as June 27 is now National HIV Testing Day, so there is no excuse not to know your status. national-hiv-testing-day-2010
