YouTube Hacker Disabled by Google
A hacker ruined the holiday weekend of thousands of YouTube fans with an irritating redirect virus that wreaked havoc on computers across the land. Google promises YouTube fans the issue has been resolved. They virtually closed the back door that enabled a mischievous hacker to insert their own HTML in various videos.
The videos redirected unsuspecting users to various porn sites and questionable pop-up windows. Justin Bieber appeared to be one of the main targets of the hacker’s ire. Part of the redirection led users to a rumor post about the young singer’s untimely death in a car accident, sparking an emotional roller coaster for tween girls everywhere. People that attempted to watch one of the videos of the teenage heartthrob were shocked to find they were suddenly viewing porn.
The comment section of the site was shut down temporarily while Google fixed the problem. They assure users the hack did not involve malware and there was no intrusion into a user’s personal account information. However, the redirection may have landed a user on another site that did have malware running. One site has been blamed for the mayhem that occurred on July 4th. That site 4Chan apparently sparked an enthusiastic following for hackers everywhere willing to join in the fun.
Twitter and Facebook accounts sent out various warning messages to all that were planning on watching a Justin Bieber video via YouTube. The young singer has become an internet sensation, with over 1 million views a day for his videos.
