PS3 Slim Goes White in Japan
Sony has announced they will be selling a new version of the popular game system PS3 Slim. Unfortunately, Japan is the only market set to get this updated system at this point. Japanese gamers can expect to see this latest version on store shelves by the end of the month. The US and Europe markets may not see these newer models anytime soon according to some industry experts. Sony has not released any information about future market releases, only stating that sales and demand will dictate whether or not it makes it to foreign shores. There has also been no indication that the current prices on the older systems will be reduced.
The latest, greatest version will feature a sleek white cover instead of the classic black associated with PS3. The game system will be sold with either 160GB or 320GB hard drives. The 160GB system is expected to sell for $340and the 320GB will start around $399. One DualShock 3 white controller and stand will also be included with the 160GB version. Currently, the PS3 Slim is available with a 120GB and 250GB hard drive for about the same price as the newer models are expected to have. Sony will most likely discontinue the older models.
This release follows Microsoft’s updated XBOX 360, which is now available in black. Originally, it was only available in classic white. The newer version of the 360 has a 250GB hard drive. The company also plans to release a motion controller called the Kinect in November of this year.
