K2 is the Newest Fad: Legal Synthetic Marijuana
If you haven’t heard of K2 yet, you will soon. K2 is a synthetic marijuana which is legal in most states.
This legal synthetic marijuana is the newest designer drug fad that is soaring on line. It is known as “spice”, “genie” or K2. Poison centers from around the United States are getting more and more calls about the bad effects of K2. People have reported severe tremors and even seizures.
The DEA is trying to find out exactly what is in this synthetic marijuana. It is being marketed as bath salts or incense. It is marketed in bright colored bags and packaging.
Jason Schmider, a frequent marijuana user decided to use the synthetic drug because it is undetectable on drug tests. He claims that he used it about 50 times and ended up in the hospital. He found the cravings so intense that he went to a drug treatment center. It is about 15 times stronger than marijuana and the effects are much more intense. Jason says is was so scary, he will never use it again.
This year as the drug spreads, there have been over 500 calls to the poison centers as compared to just 12 in 2009. It is legal in 44 states but easy to get everywhere. There are six states that ban K2 including Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Kansas, Missouri and Louisiana. New York and New Jersey are considering banning K2.
The DEA is considering making K2 a controlled substance because it has become so prevalent and dangerous. 
Not a single death has resulted directly from the use of K2. An Iowan commited suicide after using it, but have drunk people ever committed suicide before?
and again, I’m confused of who to blame , the synthetic marijuana for existing ,still, all alone, or our youth for having to try the substance 50 times just to know that their symptoms are real and that they need medical attention. Don’t know who to blame but all I know is that I’m not probation,i keep it safe and I don’t abuse it, sparkling a bowl; that’s all.
Another reason to legalize the real thing like alcohol…
