Norwegian Epic Departs For First Cruise
The Norwegian Epic is leaving its home port of Miami for its first official cruise. The hyped voyage of the Norwegian Epic includes a performance from The Blue Man Group as it makes its way out of Miami. The Norwegian Epic seats up to 4,100 passengers and weighs over 150,000 tons.
It’s not the largest cruise liner out there, but the Norwegian Epic features many revolutionary components. It’s the first cruise ship to have cabins for single passengers. The ship also has the largest spa at sea. For kids, it features the largest slides for a seagoing water park as well as the most bowling lanes.
The casino on board the Norwegian Epic is the largest among the company’s cruise ships. In addition to Blue Man Group, the ship features exclusive entertainment like Cirque Dreams and characters from the hit kids show Spongebob Squarepants. There are 20 bars and restaurants aboard the ship, all serving dinner.
Aside from being a top luxury vessel for the passengers, the Norwegian Epic figures to provide a major boost to the economy in Miami. The Port of Miami estimates that the Epic will bring over 90,000 people to Miami International Airport, as well as over 300,000 people to the city annually. That will be a major tourism boost for the South Florida city. The Port also estimates that the Epic will lead to 1,000 jobs in the state and bring in over $3 million in revenue from frees alone. All in all, the Norwegian Epic figures to be a huge success for all parties involved.
