Google App Inventor Lets Anyone Make Android Smartphone Apps
Industry leader Google is now demonstrating why it is on top of the hill by rolling out a do it yourself mobile app tool. Best known for its popular search engine, the conglomerate has designs on creating the largest set of applications for the portable device segment of the market as well. Although the internal staff has created a dazzling array of downloads for users, turning this software loose on the public is sure to grow these items by leaps and bounds.
The beauty of this tool is that users don’t have to know programming or be able to write blocks of code. Instead, there are modules that can be designed that will revolve around a consumer’s habits. Titled App Inventor, it is currently available now for download in Google Labs
This is very similar to other open source projects such as Mozilla Firefox or Open Office where users can freely make changes as long as they are reported back to other users who may wish to implement them as well. Although right now it is limited to Android, there is the likelihood that the iPhone (et al) will also be opened up soon.
By opening up this type of development to everybody, Google is sure to receive a great number of fantastic ideas that would not have been thought of otherwise. While they may take awhile to gain on both Android and Apple, there is the distinct possibility that this idea will take off, even surpassing many executive expectations.
