Tuesday, 17 Aug 2010

A scam in progress on the social networking site Facebook offers users to install a button called , a misleading application that, once in service, actually gives access spamers access to a users profile and uses it to spread spam, a company specializing in computer security warned Monday.

Facebook offers a button “like” , which can report on a users family that enjoys such status and such a photo, brief approve all and any shared content. Users sometimes feel the lack of a reverse button, so “dislike” to mark their disapproval. Hence the good idea of the scam mentioned here, however, which concerns the English version users, mainly.

The first step is to click on the link “Download the official Dislike button now”. The operation actually installs an application that has nothing of a button “I do not. Once granted access to the profile obtained, the application updates the user profile by posting the message “I just got the dislike button, so now I can dislike all of your dumb posts lol! ” (Ie “I just get the button dislike, I can hate your’s now posts at the con, lol), text with a link. The user has entered the spiral, which also proposes to participate in a survey paid right away.

Facebook said they are activly working to remove all traces of the malicious application. Many users of the site are still too naive or too careless avoid the wacky and unknown applications, providing some confidence “because” a friend.

Anyone can design a Facebook application and then obviously they are not always advisable.
