Microsoft announces Age of Empires Online

Tuesday, 17 Aug 2010

Big news from Microsoft coming out of the Gamescon 2010 conference being held this week in Germany. The first Xbox LIVE games that will be available for Windows Phone 7 are now known. “Age of Empires Online” and “Microsoft Flight” are the two announced titles.

“Age of Empires Online” is drawing the most interest as it is a continuation of the popular strategy game “Age of Empires.” In the game, players can build their own civilizations alongside those of their friends and others playing the game. The first civilization you build is similar to the ancient Greek culture. This new version has many new features included. Even when you are offline your city continues to grow and prosper, and some even fail.

“Age of Empires Online” was developed by Robot Entertainment.

Microsoft officials also seem excited about “Microsoft Flight.” Flight simulators have always been popular and Microsoft says this will bring a new perspective to the flight simulator genre. Microsoft hasn’t shown, or said much about this program yet, but leaks continue to come out as the week goes on at Gamescon 2010. Microsoft had long been thought of as the leader in creating flight simulation games until the popular “X-Plane” game came out in recent years.
