HIV was in Monkeys for Millenia

As research has recently shown, the precurser top HIV has been around a lot longer than originally thought.

The SIV virus has been around for more than 32,000 years putting humans at risk for just as long of a time.

Now scientists are saying that for centuries, hunter had put themselves at risk when butchering SIV infected Monkeys. Before popular civilization, cases of transmission from primate to human were very isolated.

Some believe that the epidemic of AIDS in the 20th century could have stemmed from the mass production of cheap syringes in Africa. Many wonder why apes with SIV do not get sick, and the answer is simple. Monkeys have had thousands of years to adapt; this is still relatively new to human beings.
