Speculation over Nexus Two phone grows

Friday, 29 Oct 2010

Industry insiders are increasing speculation that Google is in the middle of preparing a follow-up to its Nexus One smartphone after a newspaper in the United Kingdom claimed a second phone will be on the market there by Christmas.

However, Google CEO Eric Schmidt claims there are no plans for the Nexus Two.

Possible details of the phone include its use of a dual-core Nvidia processor.

Nexus One has been met with mixed reviews. It was a very high-profile for Google but did not go over very well with consumers who were already hooked on HTC, Samsung and other android phones.

  1. This post makes no sense – Being “hooked” on other manufacturer devices has nothing to do with it. The Nexus One was a HTC phone, designed by HTC, but sold by Google. Outside of the branding and marketing that Google participated in, it’s as much a “Google” phone as the Motorola Droid X, HTC Evo 4G or Samsung Galaxy S.

As for consumer sales, the Nexus One performed poorly because it was sold exclusively online instead of through retail, and was only available at subsidized prices through T-Mobile in the US. An AT&T Phone was available online later as well, but it was not subsidized.
