Is Facebook Down December 16, People Forced To Meet Face-To-Face
December 16, 2010, At 4:15 P.M. ET, Facebook went down and the world stood still. By 5:18 the site was back up, but in the meantime Facebook staff released messages like this one to CBS.
“For a brief period of time, some internal prototypes were made public to a number of people externally. As a result, we took the site down for a few minutes. It’s back up, and we apologize for the inconvenience.”
Facebook also tweeted, “some internal prototypes were exposed to people and resulted in us disabling the site briefly. It’s now back to normal.”
So what caused the glitch? Facebook was just trying to give us new features. They were adding new, redesigned brand pages, and a new photos section to archive photos by year and best of all the brand new ability to manage different facebook pages without having to log out. One source reported that an issue with customized tabs caused the problem. The tabs disappeared an hour before the site went down.
So the Facebook disaster is now solved and soon the new features will be added again, at least we hope so.
