Did You Notice GMMXLE GOOGLE?
If you visited google.com this morning you were sure to notice something different.
Google is famous for changing their homepage to match the holidays. Google has changed their site to say GMMXLE instead of Google.
Many people are not sure what GMMXLE has to do with the new year. Google knows what they are doing and come up with unique ways to welcome the holidays.
GMMXLE actually means 2011 when it comes to roman numerals.
Yes, Google has everyone doing their homework this morning, but it is sure one fun and creative way to ring in the New Year and welcome 2011.

Did You Notice GMMXLE GOOGLE?

thats pretty cool
hahaha. i didn’t figure out that it was roman numeral 2011 until now. hahaha.
i knew it had to do with roman numerals. i just couldn’t figure out how they added up to 2011 (until, of course, i added them up…:) ))
Wow, that’s really amazing!! I knew that it had to do something with the New Year and Roman numerals, but I never thought it actually said 2011..that’s really impressive…:D
Not entirely correct – GMMXIe – The G and the e are gratuitous echoes of the GOOGLE name – they have nothing to do with the Roman expression for 2011 which is MMXI I suppose since M= 1000 so MM must be 2000, X=10 soooo 2010 and I = 1 so we have 2011 – sadly the I has been sized to look like an l (ell) and an L might represent 50 – so we seem royally confused this morning. Ah well.
That is so actually im learning about that and i shouldve known it said 2011 im so dumb sometimes
awesome
It does not say MMXL. That would mean 2040. It says MMXI. It’s an i at the end.
pretty cool. my little brother actually asked me what it means and i was like ahhh i dont know lol. so i just had to google it! =)
thats what i thought
i just didnt know the g, l, or e. lol i only have learned x’s, i’s and m’s
They are good, I had to google it!
Look again. The Roman numerals are IVXLCDM.
The G and E are not part of the date here, and the apparent lowercase L is really a capital I.
2011 = MMXI.
HAHA Its awesome! I couldn’t believe it, GOOGLE and GMXXLE same amount of letters, I have a good feeling google couldn’t wait to post this! REMARKABLE!!!!!!!!!!! have a happy new year! haha
THATS AWESOMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE(((::: I cant believe the year is almost over its going by way to fast!!!!!
That’s not an L it’s an i because an L is 50 so that would make it 2040. Whoever posted this article needs to get their facts straight.
wow! thats so cool! i only new that now! wow!!!!!!
good news for GMMXLE…
AND EVERY DAY TELL ABOUT GIVEN GOOGLE LOGO SPECIALITY OK…. THANKU U….

It’s actually NOT GMMXLE. It is an I people, not an L. The I meaning 1 in roman numerals. L is 50. Whole different decade.
actually GMMXLE doesn’t mean 2011
G and E are not roman numerals.
MMXL would mean 2040, but MMX means 2010
The G, L, and E are not meant to represent anything
it is a way of saying goodbye to 2010
IT’S GREAT……
actually now that I have taken a second look at it, that isn’t even an L
so it can be 2010 or 2011 depending on how you look at it
hahahahahahahahaha i knew it was roman numreals p.s. if you want to be a lucky winner to kick of the new year send me a email saying this exactly “i want to win” you might win sorry if you dont
Its not MMXL its MMXI. The I is the 1 in the 11 and XI is 11. MM means 2000 and put together its 2011. MMXL on the other hand is 2040 because X is 10 and L is 50. XL is 40 because X is before L making it ten LESS than 50 plus the 2000 from MM.
Thats cool! i wonder if it will stay gmmxle for end of the year.
Nice …Happy new year MMXL
@Pizza pie237
Same :O I wouldn’t have ever figured it out if it wasn’t for this website!
G and E are not roman numerals… so GXXLI actually directly translates to “G2011E”… which is kind of lame, imo.
Has Google really been renamed GMMXLE ? I’ve been told this is simple a scam and that I am a “computer illiterate” for even beginning to believe this.
Let me know . . .
Blonde
well….the number will be MMXI…. NOT MMXL I GUESS THEY CHEATED A LITTLE BIT REPLACING THE “I” FOR THE “L”
I think it’s GMMXIE…
because MMXI is 2011…
WOWW I just realized that…… :}
why so hard .. what’s the need !!! I am lost. It’s not with in the range of my antenna.
Hhhmmm I’m not sure that is threal roman numeral thing but it is pretty cool!!
