Sony PSP2 To Play Physical Media

The soon-to-debut Sony PSP2 has been confirmed to play games using a physical media type so far known only as “new game medium”. This looks to be a memory card of some sort and should allow users to store save data and downloadable material.
Brick-and-mortar video game retailers were relieved at the news, as they were worried that Sony might attempt to make the PSP2 capable only of playing downloadable content via the PlayStation Network. The decision to support a physical media will allow those who enjoy having an actual box and game to purchase one while still allowing the convenience of purchasing games through downloads.
