Body Dysmorphic Disorder is a disorder that is not often spoken about. However, more people in this country have the disorder than you’d think.
People with Body Dysmorphic Disorder or BDD are preoccupied with their image. Most people with BDD see flaws on their face or bodies that other people cannot see at all. It can get to the point where the individual will become obsessed with fixing their flaws or won’t even leave the house because they are extremely self conscious or embarrassed of their flaw.
BDD is a manifestation within the mind that completely take over a persons life. It is important that those with BDD are treated in a psychiatric setting and at times, are also treated with the proper medication to relieve some of the anxiety and stress associated with Body Dysmorphic Disorder.
The very most effective treatment for those with BDD is Mindfulness-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.
